Aigora supports external validation of Owkin’s AI models for MSI pre-screening

Performance of AI models for MSI detection on external validation cohorts published in Laboratory Investigation.

March 26, 2026

MUNICH, Germany – Aigora supported the external validation of AI models developed by Owkin (now Waiv) to predict microsatellite instability (MSI) status from routine H&E-stained pathology slides in gastric, endometrial and biliary tract cancers. The results were published in Laboratory Investigation, with co-authorship from Aigora’s team, and presented at the 2026 USCAP Annual Meeting.

MSI is an important biomarker in cancer care, but its prevalence varies widely between tumour types, so many samples have to be tested to identify relatively few MSI-high (MSI-H) cases. An AI-based pre-screening step on routine slides could help focus confirmatory testing on cases likely to be MSI-H and make testing more cost-effective.
